About Us
I got my first German Shepherd at the age of 13 and was hooked on the breed. Clanrillon Ursa was my first dog and together we did the show circuit in the Bay of Plenty. I got another Shepherd from Clanrillon Kennels after I was married and Clanrillon Ella (Kimba) was a big part of our family teaching my children the love of dogs. I would like to thank Jeanne Allen of Clanrillon kennels for all her help over the years and for the help and support that continues today.
As a Registered Nurse I am a shift worker and this gives me lots of time to spend with my German Shepherds in which we are lucky in the Eastern Bay of plenty to have so many beaches and open spaces for our dogs to run free and play every day.
Shephaven Kennels is a small kennel located at Whakatane in the sunny Bay of Plenty New Zealand, concentrating on temperament, health, trainability, and beauty with working ability.
I am a family oriented kennel, committed to enhancing the breed through my limited, planned breeding's.
We believe that if your German Shepherd puppy is going to become a member of your family, then your puppy should also come from healthy parents of sound minds and temperaments that are family members as well. That is why our German shepherd dogs are health tested and puppies are raised in a home environment with a variety of other pets to insure proper socialization.
My breeding dogs go thru Vet Checks including hip and elbow x rays which are read and scored by the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia Hip Dysplasia (HD) and Elbow Dysplasia (ED) Control Schemes as well as DNA testing.
